November is National Native American Heritage Month in the United States. In 2016, our New York and Washington DC offices participated in a series of group and self-study activities to learn more about Native American heritage, identity, culture and challenges. Staff read Native American-themed books, watched films, visited museums and even cooked traditional food!

The Active Citizens program in the US works with the Western Shoshone Native American Tribes of Nevada to increase cultural awareness and preservation. By celebrating Native American Heritage Month, our US staff were able to gain a better understanding of the Native American culture, and connect with members of the Western Shoshone tribes on a deeper level.
