Anyone applying for GENERATE should be aware of the following:

1. The programme

GENERATE is a British Council and Arts Council of England partnership enabling a new network of international collaboration between UK and US producers.

The programme provides opportunities for US and UK theatre, dance, live and performance art producers, presenters, and curators to develop a transatlantic network for collaborative work and long-term relationships.

The Programme is run by the British Council USA and Arts Council England.

As part of the programme, those who are selected will be required to travel to the UK from 15-20 October, 2019 and the US from 15-19 April, 2020.

2. Territory and eligibility

The programme is open to individuals of the participating countries. The participating countries are;

  • UK
  • USA

To apply you must:

  • Complete an online application form.
  • Provide a letter of recommendation written by a professional contact working in the arts who can speak to the quality of your practice and work experience.
  • Have between three- and eight-years professional work experience.
  • Contribute to ongoing evaluation including blogs and articles about the programme.
  • Have a valid passport and be available to meet twice over a twelve-month period: once in the UK and once in the US.

3. Programme application dates

Applications will open on 8 July 2019. The closing date for applications will be 23:59 pm BST on 7 August 2019.

The British Council reserves the right to extend the closing date. Any entry received before the opening date or after the closing date will not be included in the selection process. The British Council accepts no responsibility whatsoever for any technical failure or malfunction or any other problem with any system, server, provider or otherwise that may result in any entry being lost, delayed or not properly registered.
