Education UK Alumni Awards 2016

The Education UK Alumni Awards celebrate the achievements of international alumni who studied at UK universities within the last ten years. The three awards honor the outstanding achievements made by business professionals, entrepreneurs and community leaders who can demonstrate how their UK education has impacted on their subsequent success.

2016 Awards Gala

British Council USA organized this year’s Education UK Alumni Gala on March 3, 2016. The gala provides a fantastic opportunity for university staff and alumni chapters to connect with key contacts in the New York area, celebrate British education and highlight the achievements of those whose education have impacted their success.

Professional Achievement Award

The Professional Achievement Award recognizes UK alumni who have distinguished themselves through exemplary leadership and achievements in their professional industry.

  • CEO, American Association of Independent Music, which helps to move independent music genres into the global music market
  • Author of two of the most successful music production textbooks to date
  • Former head of one of the nation's oldest and most successful independent music labels, Smithsonian Folkways Recordings

The Entrepreneurial Award recognizes UK alumni who are active in initiating or contributing to innovative new business opportunities that have the potential for strong growth.

  • Listed on Inc. Magazine's '30 under 30' list in 2012 and Forbe's '30 under 30' in Energy in 2014

Patricia Nagi Mechael, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine

  • Principal and policy lead at HealthEnabled, an Africa-based not-for-profit that helps governments integrate life-saving digital health solutions into their health systems
  • The PhD in the field of mHealth
  • On faculty at Johns Hopkins, Princeton and Columbia University
